Lunch Break in Brussels: The Best Addresses to Eat Quick and Well

5 min read

The Noon Challenge in Brussels

Between noon and 2pm, downtown Brussels becomes a race against the clock. You have 45 minutes, sometimes an hour, to eat something good without breaking the bank. Sandwich chains are everywhere, but there are better options.

Criteria for a Good Lunch Break

For us, a good noon address ticks three boxes: quick service (20 minutes max), quality ingredients (not reheated) and a price under €15. Here are our favorite addresses.

1. Croix100 — Gare Centrale or Louise

The gourmet croissant is the perfect lunch format: it's a complete meal in an artisanal croissant. The Croque Monsieur at €9 or the Norwegian at €16.50 can be eaten in 15 minutes. Add a signature drink and you're good to go.

Average time: 15-20 min

Budget: €9-17

2. Manhattn's Burgers

A well-filled gourmet burger in 15 minutes. The meat is fresh, the fries are homemade. A classic for comfort food lovers.

Average time: 15-20 min

Budget: €14-18

3. Pistolet Original

The Brussels sandwich revisited with gourmet fillings. It's the Belgian version of a sandwich, only better. Ideal for eating on the go.

Average time: 5-10 min (takeaway)

Budget: €6-10

4. EXKi

Belgium's healthy fast-food chain. Salads, soups, hot dishes — everything is prepared fresh daily. Practical, affordable, reliable.

Average time: 5-10 min

Budget: €8-14

5. Pita Street

The best pittas downtown. Generous fillings, homemade sauces and crispy falafels. Perfect for a cheap and filling lunch.

Average time: 10 min

Budget: €7-11

6. Maru — Rue du Midi

Quick Korean cuisine: bibimbap, kimbap, fried chicken. It's fresh, fragrant and original. Portions are generous for the price.

Average time: 15 min

Budget: €10-15

7. Knees to Chin — Rue de l'Ecuyer

Giant Vietnamese spring rolls with creative fillings. It's light, fresh and healthy — perfect after a busy morning.

Average time: 10 min

Budget: €10-14

8. Norma — Place Sainte-Catherine

Fresh pasta made to order in front of you. It's quick, it's fresh, it's Italian. Portions are honest and value is good.

Average time: 15 min

Budget: €12-16
